Chance the Rapper and his wife, Kirsten Corley, are officially ending their marriage. According to TMZ, on Friday, December 13th, Corley filed for divorce, just months after celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary. The couple, who share two daughters, Kensli (9) and Marli (5), had previously announced their separation in April, emphasizing their commitment to co-parenting amicably.

The decision follows a series of ups and downs in their relationship. Last year, Chance, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, faced criticism after a video surfaced from Jamaica’s Carnival showing him dancing with another woman and smacking her backside. Shortly after, Corley posted a Maya Angelou passage about people who “don’t grow up,” leading many to speculate it was directed at him. Despite the incident, reports at the time suggested the couple had worked through the issue.

When they first announced their separation, both Chance and Corley shared identical statements on their Instagram Stories, stating, “After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition. Thank you.”

This isn’t the first time the couple has faced challenges. In 2020, Corley described marriage as “difficult” in a now-deleted Instagram post, where she reflected on the complexities of married life and emphasized the importance of commitment and personal growth. Despite their struggles, Chance celebrated their love through music. He dedicated his debut album, The Big Day, to Corley. The two first met as children at his mother’s office party. Their journey has been filled with love, challenges, and growth, but now they’re choosing separate paths.
