Chingy is in hot water after it was revealed he would be one of the headlining performers for a Republican Party-sponsored event. On Friday (Sept. 20), a flyer for the upcoming show circulated online. Following the news, many had mixed feelings about the “Right Thurr” rapper’s decision. From simple jokes and fodder to all-out think pieces, folks had a lot to say. “They got Taylor Swift, but we got Chingy,” one X user said under the post.

Someone jokingly implied how surprised they were that the organizers of the event were able to locate Chingy. “They actually found Chingy somewhere?” Whereas, one commenter wrote, “I feel like at this point, given the level of desperation for endorsements and lack of vetting, I could pretend to be a musician and get one of these spots. Not sure that’s not what’s happening.”

Fans Claim to be ‘shocked’ and ‘Appauled’ And Shocked At Chingy decision

“I like the way you vote that right thurr,” another X user wrote. While it’s unclear what exactly led to the St.Louis native’s decision, it seems his fans are far from happy. After Baller Alert shared the news on its Instagram page, Chingy to the comment section to address the situation. “I’ma say this one time. MY JOB IS TO PERFORM AND I GET PAID TO PERFORM, NOT CAURR ABOUT POLITICS, he began. “NOW YALL FIND SUMIN ELSE TO DO WITH YURR TIME.”

This isn’t the first time Chingy faced criticism for his connection to conservative organizations. In 2016, the rapper endorsed Donald Trump for president. However, he quickly changed his mind after social media was enraged. ” didn’t know about some of the negative things I he had to say about some of the races out here and about the hip-hop community. I didn’t know a lot of the negative things, I was kind of commenting off reading that article and reading some of the good things that he said, so that’s kind of where my comments came from,” he wrote on X (which at the time was still referred to as Twitter).
