Chris Brown is closing the chapter on a civil lawsuit tied to a reported nightclub altercation in London. The man who accused him of assault, Abe Diaw, has officially moved to drop the suit, marking a possible resolution outside the courtroom.

Legal documents filed in Los Angeles County show that Diaw is requesting the case be dismissed with prejudice, a move that prevents it from being reopened later. TMZ reported that while no specific details have been shared, this type of dismissal usually points to a confidential settlement between the involved parties. Representatives for both Brown and Diaw haven’t made any public statements or confirmed whether any financial agreement was part of the deal.

Diaw initially claimed that Brown attacked him at TAPE nightclub with a bottle of Don Julio 1942, hitting him three times. He also alleged that after losing consciousness, Brown stomped on him repeatedly, leading to serious injuries.

Although the civil dispute may be resolved, Brown is still facing a criminal case stemming from the same incident. British prosecutors have charged him with assault and weapon possession. The charges led to his arrest earlier this year when he landed in the U.K. for a tour stop. He was released on bail and appeared in court earlier this month, where he pleaded not guilty.

For now, the lawsuit appears to be behind him—but the criminal investigation continues to unfold.
