In a new interview with Dazed Magazine, Doechii shared that she’s been craving to collaborate with SZA and Sexyy Red. According to her, she hopes to help them “get out their comfort zone.” Doechii declares that she wants to inspire them on her next project to try the “opposite of what they usually do.”
She asks,” What would it sound like if Sexyy Red did an interlude on my album and she read a poem?” The rapper continued, “What would it sound like if I had SZA on a boom-bap rap and she was rapping instead of singing, completely f*cking up what people expect these artists to do?” Doechii added, “I think that could be cool.”
Doechii opens up about battling bullying and suicidal thoughts
Doechii is no stranger to opening up about her desires or past struggles. Last month, the TDE superstar told The Cut she was the victim of “relentless bullying.” Things became so difficult that she began battling constant suicidal thoughts.“I don’t want to get super-dark [but] I was getting bullied so bad that I was thinking about killing myself,” she revealed, adding that she heard a divine message instructing her to write down the phrase ‘I am Doechii.’”
She continued: “I realized, Oh, f*ck, I’m gonna kill myself and then I’m gonna be the only one dead. The bullies aren’t gonna be with me, and everything they said is not coming with me either. I would just be gone.” The “Nissan Altima” rapper adds, “And then I was like, F*ck that! F*ck that shit! I’m not going for that! And this wash of peace came over me, and I received ‘I am Doechii.’”
