Doechii’s recent update to her Finista account has caught the attention of many fans. While the change was subtle, it made a significant impact.
Doechii’s Finsta —which is listed under the username Chii Chii—is almost akin to a lifestyle page, where she shares unfiltered content, as well as her interests and hobbies. In her profile, the word “lesbian” was recently added. It appears that the rapper, who has identified as bisexual in the past, has confirmed that she is, in fact, a lesbian.
In the past, Doechii has been very open about her experience as a queer Black woman in the rap game. In an April 2025 interview with Cosmopolitan, the rapper noted that her existence as a queer Black woman is a “major contribution to the hip-hop genre.”
“We need queer perspectives,” Doechii says
She added, “I’m speaking truthfully from a queer Black woman’s perspective, and being honest about my life through my lens is amazing. That perspective is being highlighted, and we need queer perspectives.”
In other news, back in January, Doechii dropped off her latest track, “girl, get up (ft. SZA).” Coming in at over three minutes, the Florida native uses the track address all her naysayers, specifically, streamer Adin Ross, who’d been spearheading a hate campaign against the TDE rapper. Ross would eventually release a diss track toward Doechii, featuring 6ix9ine, accusing the rapper of being an industry plant.
“All that industry plant sh*t whack/I see it on the blogs, I see you in the chats,” Doechii raps. “You suck every rap n*gga d*ck from the back, But what’s the agenda when the it girl black?/Y’all can’t fathom that I work this hard/And y’all can’t fathom that I earned this chart.” The new track signals a different era for the rapper, while there has been no word about her debut album’s release date, it wouldn’t be far to assume that it’s in the works.
