Another one.

Former President Donald Trump was indicted for the third time. This one is over efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

His recent indictment charges him for four counts: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. ABC news points out there are also six unnamed co-conspirators, including multiple attorneys and a Justice Department official.

The indictment says, despite having lost the 2020 election, he was “determined to remain in power,” in addition to the January 6 Capitol riot. He’s accused of exploiting violence when he said “we fight like hell and if you don’t fight like hell, we’re not going to have a country anymore.” In addition, over the span of two months he spread lies about fraud election and claimed he won, but they were false statements.

The indictment also says Trump created a hostile environment within the country. In addition, he created “widespread mistrust” in his attempt to “overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 election,” the report says.

Trump is already facing criminal charges in Florida for illegally hoarding classified documents from his presidency, and prosecution in New York for a hush-money payment to an adult movie star. He pleaded not guilty to all charges in both cases.

45 is also expected to face state charges in Georgia over his efforts there to reverse his defeat to Biden in the 2020 election. No other U.S. president, current or former, has ever faced criminal charges. Trump currently leads in polling for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination by a wide margin.
