Drake continues his tradition of generosity. On Sunday (Feb. 9), during his first night at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, the God’s Plan rapper surprised two fans with a total of $45,000 in cash.
Midway through his set, he noticed a woman in the crowd holding a sign that read “Adonis For President,” decorated with the OVO owl and a Canadian flag. Moved by the gesture, he responded with a gift. “You’re showing a lot of love to my son, so on behalf of me and Adonis, we’re going to give you 25 grand,” he announced.
Drake then turned his attention to another fan holding a sign that read, “Kiss Me, It’s My Birthday.” Though she was too far away for him to grant the request, he made sure she didn’t leave empty-handed. “It’s a tough read on the kiss,” he joked, “but what I am going to do is give you 20 grand and cover a birthday dinner for you and all your friends.” He then extended an even bigger offer. “If you want, you can come back to the show again. Both of y’all, if y’all want, we’ll get you tickets.”
Drake’s generosity has been a defining theme of his It’s All a Blur Tour. Last year, he covered the $160,000 mortgage of a fan’s late mother during one of his concerts. His goodwill gestures continue as he returns to Rod Laver Arena for three more nights starting Monday (Feb. 10). The Anita Max Win Tour then heads to Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena before wrapping up on March 16 in Auckland, New Zealand.
Fans also have new music to anticipate. His upcoming collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, drops on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14). After a challenging 2024 that included a high-profile rap battle loss to Kendrick Lamar, Drake is stepping back into his R&B lane—one of the few spaces where he rarely misses.
