Drake delivered more than music during his sold-out show at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome this week—he offered fans an intimate look into his personal life. TMZ broke the news on Thursday (July 31).

While addressing the crowd on the first of three scheduled performances, the Grammy-winning artist revealed that Amsterdam holds special meaning for him: it’s the city where his son, Adonis, was conceived.

“Without Amsterdam, there would be no Adonis,” Drake told the crowd, eliciting cheers and laughter.

His remark referenced the classic Frankie Beverly & Maze song “We Are One,” as he reflected on the connection between his life and the city. The moment turned a lighthearted aside into a sentimental tribute.

Drake and French artist Sophie Brussaux were first seen together in Amsterdam in January 2017. Months later, their son Adonis was born in October, just days before Drake’s 31st birthday.

Unlike some celebrity co-parenting arrangements marked by public feuds, the rapper and Brussaux have maintained a quiet and cooperative relationship. They’ve appeared together at family events and celebrations, opting to keep their personal lives mostly private.

In recent years, Adonis has begun forging his own creative path. In 2023, the young artist designed the cover art for Drake’s album For All the Dogs, offering fans a glimpse into the bond he shares with his father. As Adonis continues to grow, his presence in Drake’s public narrative has become more pronounced—reflecting not just fatherhood, but mentorship.

Drake’s reflection in Amsterdam underscored that connection. Known for turning personal stories into relatable moments, he used the stage to tie his family history to the city itself. For fans in attendance, the revelation offered a rare, unscripted look into the rapper’s private world.

The Ziggo Dome performance marked the start of Drake’s Amsterdam run, part of his broader European tour. While the setlist spanned his decades-long catalog, the night’s most talked-about moment wasn’t a hit song—it was a heartfelt acknowledgment of where his family began.
