J. Cole and Dreamville appear to be making their upcoming annual festival in North Carolina a grand finale.

For J. Cole, however, the retirement story feels more deliberate. He’s underscoring it with actions: launching a reflective podcast revisiting his earlier work and declaring that the upcoming Dreamville Fest will be his last. Whether this truly marks the end remains uncertain, but one thing is clear—Cole is crafting his exit with intention.
The announcement of Dreamville Fest’s 2025 dates was routine at first glance, following the familiar pattern of past rollouts. But this time, the festival’s official account dropped a bombshell: 2025 will mark the final chapter of the beloved event.
“What a ride it’s been,” read the statement on social media. “We can’t thank y’all enough for the memories we’ve shared.”
The revelation left fans reeling, sparking speculation about potential loopholes or rebranding efforts to keep the festival alive. Those hopes were quickly dashed. Ibrahim Hamad, J. Cole’s manager and close collaborator, confirmed the news in no uncertain terms.
“Dreamville Fest is done after 2025, plain and simple,” Hamad tweeted. “Let’s run it back one last time and make this a special weekend in North Carolina.”
His heartfelt message also acknowledged the fans and team behind the event, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support and tireless efforts over the years.
Dreamville Fest’s most recent edition, however, was not the triumphant success many had envisioned. During his set, J. Cole issued a public apology for dissing Kendrick Lamar on his track 7 Minute Drill, calling it “the wackest sh*t” he’d ever recorded.
He vowed to remove the song from streaming platforms, a move that puzzled fans and shifted the festival’s focus to his contrition rather than celebration. Despite this hiccup, J. Cole has skillfully rewritten his narrative since the dust from the feud settled.
