Dreka Gates has officially filed to end her marriage to rapper Kevin Gates, closing the chapter on a relationship that spanned nearly two decades. The wellness entrepreneur submitted divorce papers on Wednesday, citing “irreconcilable differences” and marking July 10th as the date they went their separate ways.
In her court filing, Dreka is requesting both legal and physical custody of their two children, Islah, 12, and Khaza, 11. She’s also seeking spousal support—while making it clear she doesn’t want the court to grant any to Kevin. The couple’s prenuptial status hasn’t been revealed, but the move comes just months ahead of what would have been their tenth wedding anniversary this October.
Though they’ve kept much of their private life out of the spotlight, whispers of a breakup have been circulating for a while. Kevin was previously linked to social media star Brittany Renner, who made headlines by claiming the two were married and divorced within 52 days. The claim raised eyebrows, especially since Kevin and Dreka were still legally married. Some believe Renner and Kevin may have participated in a spiritual or cultural ceremony rather than a legal one.
Dreka also recently shut down online chatter alleging she’d been unfaithful with her fitness trainer. In a pointed social media post, she wrote, “I HAVE to address this because it’s gone a little too far and I don’t care for social media to continue to spread this misinformation. I have NEVER had any type of sexual or romantic encounters with my personal trainer or any ‘hired help’ and will NEVER. And just to make it CLEAR, sorry ladies but I am strictly [eggplant emoji] and I do not do plastic. I need the real thang! Please and thank you.”
Kevin has chosen not to speak on the divorce, according to his representatives.
