Dwight Howard and Amy Luciani’s divorce has quickly spiraled into a messy legal battle marked by troubling accusations and sharp denials. Though their marriage was brief, the fallout is proving anything but simple.
Shortly before filing for divorce on July 1st, Amy, whose legal name is Amber, submitted a petition for a protective order against the former NBA star. The petition, which has since been dismissed, outlined a series of disturbing claims. According to court documents obtained by Us Magazine, she accused Dwight of giving her a drug disguised as “holistic tea.” “He has given me something he claimed was a holistic tea, and it was really a drug called Molly,” she alleged, adding that she became “extremely sick” and was denied medical help when she asked for an EMT.
Amy also claimed she had experienced controlling and aggressive behavior during their relationship. She described Dwight as “obsessive” and said he had a tendency to lock her out of their home during arguments, even changing the gate code to keep her out. “Whenever my husband gets upset, he locks me out of our home,” she stated. Other allegations included physical confrontations, like being shoved out of a room or held down during fights.
Though a judge temporarily approved her request, Amy later dropped the case. Dwight’s lawyer, Gillian B. Fierer, issued a strong statement dismissing the claims. “[Dwight] emphatically denies [Amber’s] claims,” she said, accusing Amy of manipulating the situation and branding her allegations as “patently false.” Fierer also criticized the nature of the proceedings, saying, “We are disappointed that what should have been a very simple divorce… is now being expanded into contentious litigation.”
As the legal battle continues, Dwight is seeking full control of his Georgia home, while Amy is requesting spousal support and a fair division of assets. Both have remained silent publicly.
