Do you love Twitter enough to pay for it?
There’s a possibility that a payment system for the use of the platform could be underway according to the CEO Elon Musk.
Today (September 18), during a livestream, he discussed his plans for X. Elon was on the live with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Elon explained how he wants to eliminate bots on the social network and believes making users pay for the platform is the answer.
He said the “social network is “moving to having a small monthly payment for use of the X system” to combat “vast armies of bots, CNBC points out.
It’s not clear how much a monthly plan will cost users or what features it will come with. The article points out the two men also discussed the theoretical risks of AI technology and how it should be regulated.
Elon acquired Twitter for approximately $44 billion in late October. Since the company has been under his leadership, he implanted massive staff cuts. He also eliminated blue checks that verified public figures and celebrity accounts. Now, any user can pay for the verified blue check.
