Eve is making waves as the newest Scholar-in-Residence at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development for the 2024-25 academic year. The rapper and actress will begin her year-long residency on September 21, engaging with NYU students and faculty through a series of discussions, classroom visits, and personal interactions. Her role will offer insights into her career and the evolving music industry.
Jack H. Knott, the Dean of Steinhardt, shared his enthusiasm about Eve’s appointment: “We are thrilled to be hosting Eve as our 2024-25 Scholar in Residence. She will share the expertise she’s gained as an award-winning artist in music, film, and television. She is also a philanthropist working with young people in the arts. Our students and faculty will benefit from her engagement. Her support will help advance our efforts to promote equity, belonging, and innovation.
This announcement coincides with the release of Eve’s memoir, Who’s That Girl?, co-authored with Hip Hop journalist and NYU adjunct professor Kathy Iandoli. The book is set for release on September 17th. Eve expressed her excitement about joining NYU in a social media post. She wrote, “Ya’ll, I can’t believe I am saying this but I am thrilled to announce I will be joining the 2024-25 Scholar-in-Residence at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.” My year-long residency kicks off September 21 with a welcoming event at NYU. I want people to get an understanding of who I am as a person outside of music. I am looking forward to getting to know the NYU community.”
In related news, Stevie J recently celebrated being officially credited as a featured artist on Eve’s 2001 hit “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.” He reflected on the milestone, stating, “22 years ago I wrote this hook, sang on it and added harmonies at beginning of the 2nd verse. Today I was blessed enough to be credited as a featured artist.” Stevie J also shared nostalgic photos of himself with Eve from their earlier years.
Eve was engaged to Stevie J from 1997 to 2003. She is now happily married to Maximillion Cooper. Together, they have a son, Wolf, who was born in 2022. Before her success with Ruff Ryders, Eve was briefly signed to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. This period led to the creation of her iconic track “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.”
