Eve Says She Was ‘Devastated’ After Dr. Dre Dropped Her For Eminem

The Ruff Ryders Chronicles is giving fans a chance to hear a lot of untold stories, including the story of when Dr. Dre discovered Eminem and where that left Eve.

Eve shares the story of her journey into the music business. The Philadelphia rapper started as a a dancer, with big dreams of being a the next big rap star. With being on her grind, Eve got the opportunity to fly to L.A. to record her demo, and soon enough that same demo would land in the hands of Dr. Dre. She later she inked a deal with the mogul, but to her surprise, that would come to an unexpected halt.

“I remember that when I was working with Dre, Eminem did get signed,” said Eve. “I would literally show up to studio sessions that I wasn’t supposed to be at where I knew Dre was gonna be and be like, ‘So, when am I recording? When are you gonna put me in a song? What’s going on?’ I think he got sick of that and then I got dropped eight months later… I was devastated.”

Everything truly happens for a reason, as Eve was figuring out her next move, her manager was plotting on her BEST move. She went on to sign a deal with the Ruff Ryders, which in return took her career to new heights.
