Posted on August 14, the image shows Fetty smiling despite his circumstances, accompanied by the caption, “Mr. 1738 … 🤞🏾.”
Support poured in quickly online. One Instagram user wrote, “Miss you bruh! Waiting for something special like ‘Trap Queen’ 🔥,” while another added, “Free You 🔓.” The responses underscore the enduring bond Fetty Wap maintains with his fanbase, even during his absence from the music scene.
Fetty’s family has also been actively advocating for his freedom. Earlier this year, they launched a petition coinciding with the release of his new single, “Forever.” They emphasized the importance of his voice, stating, “His freedom was taken, but not his voice. This isn’t just music — it’s his truth, his story, and his fight. The petition to help Fetty fight for a pardon and his freedom is live now … Let’s bring our brother home.”
Understanding Fetty Wap’s Sentence
Fetty Wap’s legal troubles came to a head in 2023 when he pled guilty to a federal drug charge involving conspiracy to distribute cocaine. He was sentenced to six years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. Authorities alleged he was part of a network responsible for distributing more than 100 kilograms of drugs, including cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and crack across Long Island and New Jersey.
His sister, Divinity Maxwell-Butts, has been especially vocal in calling for his early release. Earlier this year, she highlighted the non-violent nature of his offense. “He is scheduled to be released in 2027, but justice should also mean mercy,” she said. “His sentence should be commuted so he can come home to his family, his children, and his purpose. It’s time.”
