Fivio Foreign recently found himself at the center of controversy after sharing a video on social media that appeared to promote drug use. On Sunday, August 25th, he posted a clip of a man using drugs while surrounded by a crowd cheering him on. This incident occurred during a meet-up with Philadelphia rapper Skrilla. The caption read, “Philly bloccs Show got canceled we went to the hood to checc Skrilla.” The crowd was heard chanting “dog food,” a street term for heroin, which led many to believe the video glorified drug use and trade.
The backlash was intensified by the apparent contradiction between Fivio’s actions and his political stance. Fivio has shown support for Donald Trump, whose running mate, J.D. Vance, advocates for the death penalty for drug dealers. Vance, an Ohio senator, has a strong anti-drug stance, which aligns with Trump’s policies on tackling the opioid crisis. Given this context, Fivio’s promotion of drug use seems inconsistent with the political views he supports. One critic commented, “If Fivio Foreign thinks that drug use is a casual phenomenon that he should film indiscriminately, then perhaps he should reconsider his Trump support.” They suggested he rethink his political stance.
Fivio also responded to allegations from Pop Smoke’s brother. The brother accused him of being insincere about his relationship with the late rapper. Fivio dismissed these claims, calling Pop Smoke’s brother a “weirdo.” He added, “That n***a is weirdo don’t believe s**t them cornballs that want attention say.” He continued, “Y’all talking about a follow… I have ‘The smoke will never clear’ on my chest. Y’all talking about a follow? I don’t know how they unfollow, I know I went through a season of following zero people. I don’t even care.”
Fivio’s recent actions have sparked significant debate online. Many are criticizing him for his apparent endorsement of drug culture. Others are condemning his stance amid the ongoing opioid crisis.
