Gavin Newsom and Nicki Minaj’s ongoing war of words has reached a new low. On Saturday (Dec.13), Newsom shared an Instagram reel with Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, and used Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss” as background music. Newsome focused on a particular part of the track, where Megan rapped, “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan/ These hoes mad at Megan’s Law/ I don’t really know what the problem is/ But I guarantee, y’all don’t want me to start.”
The “Megan’s Law” line was a supposed shot at Nicki and her husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender. Megan’s Law is a federal law that “requires the release of relevant information to protect the public from sexually violent offenders.” It didn’t take long for Nicki to catch wind of Newsom’s response. The “Barbie Dreams” rapper immediately responded with another X post, writing, “Looks like there’s some new scum on the timeline.” Nicki would later follow up with another post where she wrote, “I hate Gavin’s new salt & pepper shake front. I mean, Lace front. RIP it off.”
The growing feud started after Newsome’s appearance on The Ezra Klein Show earlier this week. During the interview, Newsome discussed his support for transgender youth in sports. “I want to see trans kids,” Newsom said. “…I have a trans godson. There’s no governor who has signed more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBTQ community.” However, in Nicki Minaj’s opinion, this was a major misstep on Newsom’s behalf.
“Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that,” Minaj wrote in an X post. “Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids. Not Gav. The Gav Nots. GavOUT.” While Newsome has not offered any further response, Nicki has continued. In another post, seemingly AI-generated, Newsome is behind bars, and she writes, “Career politician at the brink of his moment realigns to become nothing more than a Nicki Minaj ANTI. OOF. So now he’s the guy running on “wanting to see trans kids” AND willing to lower himself to becoming just another FEMALE RAPPER to get obliterated by NICKI MINAJ.”
