Gervonta Davis has announced that he’s ready to retire from boxing.

“After next year, I’m done with it,” the 30-year-old boxer declared at a press conference for his upcoming WBA lightweight title defense against WBA super featherweight champion, Roach. “Yeah, I’m out of this sport.”

His announcement took fans by surprise, as Davis explained that he’s simply no longer passionate about boxing. “This s***’s trash,” Davis said bluntly. “Garbage. I’m fed up. I’m tired of the whole thing.”

“I just want to make money and stay out of the spotlight, that’s it,” Davis added. “I want to live my life without being seen.”

Before his retirement, fans were hoping for a showdown between Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson.

But Davis wasn’t impressed by the idea. “For what? What has Shakur done?” he responded rhetorically. “What has he accomplished in the sport? He hasn’t done anything. Keyshawn Davis is looking way better than him, and Keyshawn hasn’t done anything either. What am I supposed to be afraid of?”

He continued, “For a fighter to be afraid of someone, they have to be able to hit us and hurt us. Stevenson doesn’t have any offense; it’s all defense. Defense wins in basketball and football, but that sh*t doesn’t win in boxing.”
