Gunna recently addressed his relationship with Young Thug’s YSL label following accusations of snitching on his mentor and collaborator. His status with the Atlanta-based label has been under scrutiny ever since he accepted a plea deal in the YSL RICO case. This is what which secured his release from jail. In the new Spotify documentary, A Day in the Life with Gunna, the “Fukumean” rapper clarified his position, stating, “I’m still signed to YSL. I’m still providing. I’m still pushing. No paperwork has been changed.”

Despite the controversy, Gunna’s last two albums, A Gift & A Curse and One of Wun, were both released through YSL in partnership with 300 Entertainment, arriving after his plea deal. His recent comments come on the heels of an interview with XXL, where he discussed his relationship with Young Thug, who remains on trial for various racketeering charges. When asked about their current relationship, Gunna responded, “It’s the same. It’s love, always. Our relationship is our relationship.”

Young Thug has mostly stayed silent on the matter. Recently he appeared to side with Lil Baby, who has been openly critical of Gunna, in a social media post. From behind bars, Thug cryptically posted on X (formerly Twitter), “whateva wham say goes,” referring to Lil Baby’s nickname.

Despite being labeled a “rat” by many, Gunna has adamantly denied snitching on his label boss since his release in December 2022. In a statement, he emphasized, “While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

Unexpected support for Gunna came from Thug’s father, Jeffery Williams Sr., who defended him in an interview with radio host Infamous Sylvia last year. “I love Gunna,” he said. “Gunna hasn’t done anything whatsoever that can hurt us on this case. Period.” When asked about Lil Baby dissing Gunna over his plea deal, Williams Sr. responded, “He needs to shut the fuck up because he doesn’t know what’s going on. He’s going off what he heard.”
