Young Guru revealed how Jay-Z’s verse on Drake’s “Talk Up” for 2018’s Scorpion came about. The news follows after, the Toronto rapper released a treasure trove of content — nearly 100MB worth of unreleased music and video footage. The clip shows Drake anxiously waiting for Jay-Z’s verse to arrive. Jay-Z, who was on tour with his wife Beyonce, was rushing to finish the track.

“He’s going to get off stage, shower, probably have a drink, and then set back up with Guru [to write and record],” he says. “That process is gonna be two hours.” Jay’s longtime collaborator and producer, Guru, hopped on Instagram Stories to provide more details. According to him, Jay-Z wrote the verse nearly two hours after getting on stage and recorded the track at the concert venue.

“He literally wrote the verse after doing a full two-hour show,” Guru says

“The story behind this is beyond crazy,” Guru began. “We are on OTR 2. HOV has to do a verse. We had a show that day. He literally wrote the verse after doing a full two hour show…”The post continues: “I had an afterparty. The Promotor had to wait for two hours in the parking lot of a stadium. I made it to the club at like 1am. Just in time for my set. And that is my quick story!!!

Guru isn’t the only one talking about Drake lately. Andre 3000 recently opened up about why Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef upset him. During an interview with Crack Magazine, 3000 explains, “I got a little sad, at a certain point,” he admitted. The Outkast rapper continued: “In early rap battles, you had kids in the park rapping against each other. But it’s not just people rapping now.” Andre adds, “You got people with 100 employees. You have livelihoods, empires, companies, deals – all of it can be jeopardised. If you don’t have anything to lose, sure, go for it. But if I already made it, I’m not sure it’s even worth it any more.”
