Dating rumors between Ice Spice and Central Cee have been circulating the media since the release of their new collaboration, “Did It First,” a few weeks ago.
On Thursday (July 25), Rolling Stone published an Ice Spice cover story, in which she clarified the rumors surrounding the U.K. rap star. When asked about the rumors, the Bronx native told journalist Jeff Ihaza they were just longtime friends. “We’ve been friends since ‘Munch’ came out, honestly,” she said. “We’re just twins.”
While Ice Spice and Central Cee’s new music video shows the two in a relationship, Central Cee’s verse about cheating allegedly amplified the speculations. On the track, he raps, “I’m selective with who I get with / Gyal on my phone tryna see who I slept with / She investigating, detective / Lucky for me, I deleted the message.”
Ice Spice matched his lines with the consequences of cheating on her. “If he’s cheatin’, I’m doin’ him worse / No Uno, I hit the reverse / I ain’t trippin’, the grip in my purse / I don’t care ’cause he did it first,” she raps.
Central Cee’s ex-girlfriend Madeline Argy suggested that Ice Spice and Central Cee’s relationship might be valid after alleging that her relationship with Central Cee ended due to infidelity. As Angy claimed in a series of TikTok videos on July 12, she learned that Ice Spice and Central Cee were friends, and that Cee had previously been infidelious.
In addition to addressing the dating rumors, Ice Spice discusses her friendship with Taylor Swift, beef with Latto, and the making of Y2K, her highly-anticipated debut album, out on Friday (July 25). On Latto, Ice Spice said, “I feel like if we ever spoke and I asked her ‘What’s the issue?’ it’d be like a blank stare. It’d really be no issue whatsoever. Especially from me.”.
She continued: “I can understand a friendly competition, but I just feel like at this point it’s a joke that she’s just dragged out, and it’s just not even funny. Like, bro.”
Ice Spice will hit the road this week with Cash Cobain and RiotUSA on her “Y2K” tour.
