According to reports, the NFL will continue their ongoing partnership with JAY-Z despite the recent lawsuit alleging the mogul raped a 13-year-old girl.
During a press conference on Wednesday (Dec. 11), Commissioner Roger Goodell was questioned regarding their affiliation with JAY-Z, and it seems that things are staying the same for now. He stated, “We’re aware of the civil allegations and Jay-Z’s really strong response to that.” “We know that litigation is happening now. From our standpoint, our relationship’s not changing with [Roc Nation], including our preparations for the next Super Bowl.”
JAY-Z ISSUES STRONG RESPONSE TO ATTORNEY TONY BUZBEE
Jay began his partnership with the NFL back in 2019, giving Roc Nation a leading role in arranging performances for the league, along with the Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Kendrick Lamar. This past weekend, JAY-Z was cited in a lawsuit, accusing him of raping a 13-year-old girl with Diddy at an MTV Music Video Awards afterparty. The legal action is in pursuit by an anonymous plaintiff and prosecutor, Tony Buzbee, whom Hov referred to as a “deplorable human.”
The rap legend quickly issued a statement denying all accusations, expressing strong outrage with Buzbee. He asserted, “You have made a terrible error in judgement thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same.” “I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of the projects of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children, you seem to exploit people for personal gain. Only your network of conspiracy theorists … will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable. I look forward to showing you just how different I am.”
He continued, “My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence.”
