Jeezy has clarified his bid for primary custody of his 2-year-old daughter, Monaco, with Jeannie Mai.
TMZ reports that the rapper, who had initially sought primary custody of his toddler, has now amended his request in light of his ongoing separation from his wife.
New court documents obtained by the outlet reveal that the 46-year-old rapper, Jay Wayne Jenkins (commonly known as Jeezy), alleges that he and his estranged partner had an informal custody arrangement last year, which unraveled early in 2024. Since then, he claims that he’s had limited contact with his daughter.
Further, Jeezy alleges they previously reached an agreement for him to have custody of Monaco during spring break from March 3 to March 9. However, when arrangements were made for someone to pick up his daughter for another visit at the beginning of April, she was not present at the residence he shared with Jeannie. Jeezy believes they have since moved, a decision that would violate their agreement.
Despite the aforementioned issues, sources close to the situation claim that Jeezy has consistently advocated for joint custody. Soon, there will be a hearing to establish a temporary parenting schedule, aiming to split time equally between the parents.
We previously reported that the ‘Soul Survivor’ rapper requested that he and Jeannie Mai’s daughter, Monaco, live with him full time, citing that the child would have a more “stable” lifestyle if she lived with him as Jeannie has an “extensive travel schedule.” TMZ previously reported that Jeezy initially agreed to move to the basement. However he alleged that Jeannie later moved out of their family home, and “took their little girl with her.”
“The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart” the Georgia rapper previously said in a statement. “Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”
He continued, “Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves. During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing.”
