Award-winning actor Jonathan Majors‘s sentencing date has been delayed to April 8 after his attorneys filed a motion to set aside verdict.
The 34-year-old Creed III actor was convicted of reckless assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and harassment in the second degree in December. Majors, his defense, and the prosecution appeared for a virtual hearing on Monday (Feb.5), where the prosecutor said they needed time to review the new motion filed. Majors’s sentencing was originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 6.
Majors’s conviction carries potentially up to one year in prison. The charges stem from a March 2023 assault and harassment incident in Manhattan between the actor and ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. As Jabbari testified, she caught Majors cheating on his phone, which led Majors to grab and injure her, including ripping her finger from the phone and striking her head as he tried to take the phone away from her.
The guilty verdict has halted Majors’s acting career. Aside from Marvel Studios dropping him, he also lost his starring role in 48 Hours In Vegas and his previously released Magazine Dreams has resurfaced after losing its distributor.
Majors spoke on the guilty verdict for the first time last month with Good Morning America, where he shared his initial thoughts on the verdict, his plans to clear his name of any wrongdoing, and what he should have done differently the night of the incident with his ex-girlfriend. Majors would highlight his new girlfriend, actress Megan Good, describing her as his “Coretta.”
