It’s been five years now since Justin Timberlake has gone missing from music. Releasing his last album, Man of the Woods (RCA), in 2018, outside of soundtracks and songs for Coco Jones, Jack Harlow, and DJ Khaled, the pop star has put music in the rearview as he pursued his acting career. It seems the “SexyBack” hitmaker is joining in on the joke by posting missing-person flyers.
Before the missing-person flyers, the 42-year-old singer/songwriter/actor shared a post on TikTok on Tuesday (Jan. 16) that had the inquisitive caption, “New Music ?.” The post sent fans into a frenzy as they asked numerous questions about the possibility in the comments. Before scrubbing his Instagram account on Wednesday (Jan. 17), he shared a post with the missing person promotion.
At the top of the year, Timberlake performed at the newly-opened Fontainebleau hotel in Las Vegas. New music and a possible Vegas residency were rumored during his Fontainebleau hosting announcement. However, neither have been confirmed.
Fans speculate that Timberlake’s sixth album will be called “EITIW” based on the phrase being used in the caption of Wednesday’s Instagram post. The comment section was littered with suggestive titles such as “Everything I Thought I Was,” “Everytime I Twerk I Win,” and “Energized Igloo Trampolining Is Weird.”
More as this story develops.
He is a legend in pop and R&B, but JT never forgot his hip-hop roots. In 2013, Timberlake shared his hip-hop history with Hot 97 which included his love for The Pharcyde, Digital Underground, and A Tribe Called Quest. Hear him talk about how he fell in love with the culture at 15, below.
