The legal battles surrounding Kanye West’s Donda Academy are intensifying as he faces ongoing lawsuits from former employees. AllHipHop recently reported that a default judgment may be imminent, specifically in the case filed by Isaiah Meadows, the Academy’s former assistant principal. Meadows has already pushed for a default judgment, and this could soon become a reality as Kanye has struggled to secure consistent legal representation for his defense.

During a recent hearing, Judge Christopher Lui emphasized the urgency, stating, “This can’t continue forever. If a substitute counsel is going to come in, it has to be done quickly.” Kanye’s current attorney, Manoj Shah, explained their predicament: “We are trying in vain to retain counsel. We are interviewing several firms. For one reason or another, it has failed to work out. Our goal is to have counsel and participate in the defense.”

Allegedly, Kanye’s tendency to fire or fail to pay his legal team has caused repeated setbacks. Judge Lui warned that if he cannot secure a lawyer, he may face a default judgment.

Ron Zambrano, representing Meadows and other former Donda Academy employees, expressed skepticism about Kanye’s defense strategy. “It’s an odd situation. This is the first time we’ve heard there’s an attorney representing [West’s] interests,” he told Courthouse News. Zambrano added, “Whoever the next attorney is, there’s a long history of people not getting paid by Kanye West, which is part of the problem.”

Zambrano also noted, “I just think that sometimes he has the attention span of a goldfish,” hinting at Kanye’s unpredictable legal maneuvers. Although no strict deadline has been set, patience appears to be wearing thin in the courtroom.
