Kelly Rowland explains what really happened during the now-viral red carpet moment at the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival.

In an interview with AP Entertainment, the ‘Motivation’ songstress discussed a viral video captured at the Cannes Film Festival, showing her engaged in a heated exchange with a female security officer who appeared to be rushing her off the red carpet as she arrived at the premiere of Marcello Mio.

“The woman knows what happened. I know what happened. And, um, I have a boundary. And, I stand by those boundaries. And that is it,” she said.

When pressed for further details, the Destiny’s Child group-mate added, “And, there were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me and they did not get scolded or pushed off or told to get off,” suggesting that security’s behavior was racially motivated.

“And, um, I stood my ground and she felt she had to stand hers. But, I stood my ground. And, that was it,” she concluded, shrugging her shoulders.

We previously reported that while promoting her made-for-Netflix film, Mea Culpa, Rowland was asked about a potential Destiny’s Child reunion during an appearance on The Big Tigger Morning Show with Jazzy McBee. “Your sis [Beyoncé] just dropped a whole new couple of songs, and it’s my understanding that Renaissance II may or may not be country-based, and then there’s a rumor going around that Renaissance III may be, either rock-based or a DC reunion,” the co-host began, seemingly setting the stage for Rowland to address the rumors.

To which the “Like That” singer responded, “that is her business to talk about, not mine.” She was then asked, “and I know that you all are tired of answering those questions, but fans like me for the Destiny’s Child reunion, it got me really excited … we still gotta ask every time we see you.”

“I know, but just ask them,” Rowland replied. “I’m here talking about Mea Culpa, out Feb. 23, and that’s what I’m most excited about right now. I think that, that’s that.”
