Kevin Durant wasn’t exactly impressed with Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. When asked about the performance on Monday, February 10th, the Phoenix Suns star didn’t hold back, calling the day “boring” and admitting he wasn’t invested in the show.
“It meant nothing to me,” Durant told reporter Dana Scott. “No thoughts — I didn’t really pay attention to it to be honest. It was a little boring day for a Super Bowl. The game got out of hand. The Super Bowl Halftime Show — I didn’t pay attention to it. I kinda skimmed through the whole thing, to be honest.”
Durant’s lack of enthusiasm may not come as a surprise. A devoted Washington Commanders fan, he watched his team lose to the Eagles in the NFC Championship, making the matchup between Philadelphia and Kansas City less than exciting for him. Adding to that, Durant has long been a vocal Drake supporter, making Lamar’s halftime performance even less of a draw.
The game itself wasn’t much of a thriller either, despite the final score. The Eagles dominated the defending champion Chiefs far more than the 40-22 scoreboard suggested in Sunday’s, February 9th Super Bowl matchup in New Orleans.
Durant has a strong connection with Drake, even earning an A&R credit on the rapper’s 2023 For All the Dogs album. The two spent time together in Toronto last summer, and Durant has been hyping up Drake’s upcoming collaboration with PartyNextDoor, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which dropped Friday February 14th.
