Killer Mike’s Grammy Award-winning album, Michael, is to be continued.
The Atlanta rap star surprised Zane Lowe, the hosts of Apple Music 1, during his Super Bowl weekend interview in Las Vegas. Mike revealed on Saturday (Feb.10) plans to follow up his award-winning album with sequels.
Taking the Grammy rap title this year, Michael is Killer Mike’s sixth album. He shared the album took nine years to create through self-investment and collaborating with Cuz Lightyear and Mike Will-Made-It. The album featured hit songs “Run,” “Scientists & Engineers,” and “Down By Law.”
“The first album we got to kinda take the nine-year-old to where I’ve grown into as an adult, but I wanna cut deeper,” Mike told Zane Lowe. “There’s deeper levels to go, you know. We already plotting out what the next one’s gonna be, me and Cuz Lightyear were in the studio with Mike Will the next night. And we working.”
Killer Mike has been inspired by the Grammys to accumulate more awards.
He continued: “I just wanna work and produce works of art that’s gonna live long after I’m gone. So I can’t do that celebrating this too long. The celebration is fun, but after this, when I get back to Atlanta, I’ll be working.”
Michael features guest appearances by CeeLo Green, Mozzy, Young Thug, 6lack, Eryn Allen Kane, Jagged Edge, André 3000, Future, Currensy, 2 Chainz, Kaash Paige, Blxst, Fabo, El-P and Ty Dolla Sign.
Killer Mike released an official statement on his recent arrest after winning the Grammys last week. A misdemeanor charge was filed against him, and he was detained for several hours on Sunday (Feb. 4). Mike is set to appear in court over the incident on February 26.
