Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion became one of the most talked about celebrity-athlete couples when the rapper confirmed their romance on Instagram this summer. Now, only a few months later, questions are being raised about whether their relationship is still going strong. The conversation picked up again during NBA Media Day when Thompson was asked how being with Megan has made him a “better man on and off” the court.
Instead of addressing the question, Thompson appeared uninterested in discussing his personal life. Video from the moment, shows him looking annoyed before giving a short reply. “I’m not going to talk about that,” he said. He quickly steered the conversation toward basketball and emphasized his commitment to training. “But I will say that every summer doesn’t change for me, because I know what it takes to go the distance, and there’s really no such thing as an offseason. The summertime is just as strenuous as the season. You have to train as if you’re going to play 100 games a year. And that’s what I do.”
The clip set off a wave of reactions online. Some fans believed his refusal to acknowledge Megan meant there could be trouble behind the scenes. One person commented, “He damn near said ‘free Tory,’” while another joked, “He went through that phone😂😂😂.” At the same time, other supporters thought Thompson was simply trying to keep the spotlight on basketball. “He said you’re not about to overshadow my impressive career with my relationship buddy. Stick to the script and try again😂😂😂,” one user wrote. Another defended him by saying, “He gave a good answer, keep him out of your business.”
Although Thompson avoided the subject this week, he has shown public support for Megan in the past. In July, he joined her at the Pete & Thomas Foundation gala and praised her work. “This is just another incredible feat of hers to be able to give back, create a foundation, and raise a ton of money for those in need,” he said at the event. “And I’m honored to be here by her side.”
