Lefty Gunplay, the Los Angeles rapper who gained attention with his appearance on Kendrick Lamar’s GNX standout track “TV Off,” has been arrested in El Paso, Texas, on multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance.

According to El Paso jail records, he was booked on February 24 on three charges: failing to wear a seat belt, possessing a prohibited item in a correctional facility, and possession of a controlled substance. Authorities claim he had between four and 200 grams of an unspecified substance. Under Texas law, a conviction could result in up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Gunplay posted a $35,000 bond and was released the same day. He had traveled to El Paso to host a party and deliver a limited performance at Friends Sports Bar & Kitchen but missed the event due to his arrest. Speaking with local radio host Patti Diaz, he addressed the situation without revealing details.

“Later on, I’ll get into what really happened, but if you know, you know,” he said. “I feel like I gotta make it up to my El Paso fans. I know I have a lot of supporters in Texas. Things didn’t go as planned, but everything happens for a reason. I love Texas… Hopefully, we can make it right.”

Last year, Lefty Gunplay made headlines after hinting at a deluxe edition of GNX. During an interview with Bootleg Kev, he discussed working with Kendrick Lamar on “TV Off” and suggested the Compton rapper had unreleased material.

“He has some stuff. We did two, three songs. He’s got things in the chamber,” Gunplay revealed. “He told me we’re going to work again, for sure.”

He also claimed Lamar was planning a deluxe version of the album. “He’s very secretive,” he added.
