Rapper Lil Nas X is facing serious legal trouble after being charged with four felonies stemming from a bizarre incident in Los Angeles last week.
According to court filings, the Grammy-winning artist, born Montero Lamar Hill, has been charged with three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. The charges were announced following an incident that occurred on August 21, 2025, along Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley.
The incident:
Authorities say Lil Nas X was spotted walking down the busy street wearing only underwear and cowboy boots, at one point balancing a bright orange traffic cone on his head. Witnesses described his behavior as erratic, prompting multiple calls to law enforcement.
When officers arrived, the rapper allegedly charged at them, resulting in injuries to police personnel. He was initially booked on a misdemeanor count of battery against an officer, but prosecutors later upgraded the charges to felonies after further review.
As previously reported, before being transferred to jail, Lil Nas X was taken to a hospital for evaluation due to concerns about a possible drug overdose. Over the weekend, he was held without bail as prosecutors prepared formal charges.
Lil Nas has not publicly spoken out as of yet.
