Loni Love shared her sentiments towards Tyler Perry following reports of low movie ratings.
According to Screen Rant, Tyler Perry’s newest film Divorce in the Black, “nabs a shocking and exceedingly rare 0% score on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer.”
Love reposted the tweet from SR and wrote, “I love that Tyler is paying Black actors now I wish he would hire Black writers and directors that have experience to help him with his movies…”
She added, “He could improve the movies & make them award worthy if he would stop trying to save money by doing the writing and directing himself.”
Love isn’t the first person to speak out about Perry. We previously reported Alfonso Ribeiro also had some choice words towards the director.
In a previous interview with Closer Weekly, Ribeiro says his career took a halt after that role as Carlton Banks on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. “It was one of the greatest roles that I ever was fortunate enough to play, but it was also the role that stopped me from acting again because people couldn’t see me as anything else,” he told the outlet.
Ribeiro’s comments must’ve struck a cord in his fans, as one fan took to X to make a career suggestion to the actor. “@tylerperry needs to revamp @alfonso_riberio career, I just know he could,” the person wrote.
Shockingly, Ribeiro responded, “I don’t need or ever want that man to do anything for me.”‘
Tyler Perry has yet to respond to Love or Ribeiro. He does, however, thank his fans as the movie is currently number one globally on Amazon Prime. I’ll never forget being told over and over again by different studios that “black movies” do not have an appeal outside of America. Well here’s to putting that lie to bed yet again.
