A Chicago man is in custody after he was spotted dangling outside of the Trump Tower yesterday (October 19) with a rope. The Chicago-Sun Times reports the unidentified man, who is in his 20’s, used a climbing harness to get on the building and demanded to speak with President Donald Trump. The man threatened to kill himself if he didn’t.
The man was hanging from the tower’s 16th-floor balcony at about 5:30 p.m. It took authorities nearly 13 hours to safety de-escalate, which happened around 7:00 a.m. Police arrived on the scene and a SWAT team negotiator safely got the man down.
