The legal clash between Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez has taken a sharp turn, as the rapper’s attorneys accuse Lanez of launching “petty, misogynistic jabs” during a recent deposition. The allegations inject fresh tension into an already high-profile case that has remained in the public spotlight.

In a filing submitted in Florida federal court, Megan’s legal team is asking the judge to sanction Lanez—born Daystar Peterson—who is currently behind bars. They argue he violated a court order that required him to explain why he should not be held in contempt. Their motion stems from a deposition earlier this month, which they described as “disruptive and inflammatory.”

According to Megan’s lawyers, Lanez used the deposition to mock the opposing counsel’s physical appearance and hair color—behavior they say amounted to harassment rather than a legitimate legal exchange. “This was not about answering questions,” they wrote, “but undermining the process with targeted disrespect.” Lanez also raised eyebrows by allegedly pretending not to understand basic words such as “meet,” “discuss,” and “approve,” further frustrating the proceedings and fueling calls for court intervention.

Case widens, targeting misinformation and media accountability

While no hearing date has been set, Lanez’s attorneys are pushing to fast-track a response. They’ve filed to have Megan cover the costs of the deposition and have requested that a special master be appointed—at Lanez’s expense—to monitor future questioning. If the court declines, Megan’s legal team is calling for a prompt hearing, according to AllHipHop.

The deposition is tied to Megan’s defamation suit against YouTuber Milagro Gramz, whom she accuses of spreading falsehoods about the Lanez case. After failing to hand over key digital evidence—including metadata and private messages—Gramz was recently ordered to pay $5,000 to cover Megan’s legal fees.

Facing mounting legal bills, Gramz lost her original legal team over nonpayment but has since retained attorneys Jeremy McLymont and Ronda Dixon, reportedly with help from a crowdfunding campaign launched by her supporters.

At its core, this courtroom drama stretches far beyond the personal feud between two artists. It continues to shape broader conversations about misogyny in media, accountability in celebrity culture, and the role of digital platforms in amplifying misinformation.
