Michael Rainey Jr. has seemingly taken 50 Cent’s side in the rapper’s ongoing feud with Lil Meech. The dispute between 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, and Lil Meech erupted after the latter’s father, Big Meech, was photographed alongside 50’s longtime rival, Rick Ross.

Lil Meech stars in 50 Cent’s Starz series BMF, a dramatization of Big Meech’s reign as the leader of the Black Mafia Family. Meanwhile, Rainey Jr. is a central figure in Power Book II: Ghost, a spinoff of 50 Cent’s Power franchise. Their connection to 50 Cent’s television empire made Michael Rainey Jr’s recent comments all the more striking.

In a clip posted on X by No Jumper on March 24, 2025, Rainey Jr. was asked if he felt bad for Lil Meech amid the escalating feud, which has reportedly placed his role in BMF in jeopardy. His response was blunt:

“Do I feel bad for Lil Meech? I don’t feel bad for no grown man on this planet. I’m a grown man. Why the fk would I feel bad for another grown man? You a grown man too, n*a.”

Michael Rainey Jr’s remarks came weeks after 50 Cent publicly congratulated him on his NAACP win. On February 22, Rainey Jr. took home the award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in Power Book II: Ghost.

50 Cent praised him on Instagram, writing, “@michaelraineyjr won NAACP outstanding actor in a drama series, he is gonna be better [than] all of us. He’s focused, got 2 movies in the can BOOM.”

50 Cent’s rift with Lil Meech is rooted in his falling out with Big Meech. While the two were once on good terms following Big Meech’s release from prison in 2024, their relationship soured after the former crime boss was spotted with Rick Ross earlier this year.

On February 3, 50 Cent made his disdain public, calling Big Meech a rat in an Instagram post. He also alleged that Big Meech’s former business partner and current BMF producer, Tammy Cowin, was preparing to expose him in a tell-all documentary.

Days later, on February 6, 50 Cent posted a series of alleged messages from Lil Meech, in which the young actor expressed his frustration:

“Now u mad at me when I would take the shirt off my back for you. I can’t believe this man. U act as if I’m your enemy. I’ve only showed u love and loyalty. I go thru my own st but I never switched up on u. Fk Rick Ross but he gave my dad some bread so he can afford to pay his bills until our next season starts.”

50 Cent’s response was cold and ominous. He captioned the post, “What next season,” seemingly hinting at either canceling BMF or removing Lil Meech from the cast.

Weeks later, 50 Cent speculated on why Big Meech had allegedly tried to create a rift between him and Lil Meech. In a since-deleted post on February 19, he wrote, “I thought about it. I think he was uncomfortable with me and MeMe’s relationship. I’m telling MeMe I don’t want him doing drugs. He telling him he used to do X like it’s cool. I tell MeMe chill, stop spending all ya money, he telling him how much money he blew.”

The rapper then claimed he had paid for Lil Meech to enter rehab after the actor allegedly got high and fell ill while filming BMF. “People don’t know I had to send MeMe to rehab,” he continued. “Russell Hornsby peeped he was high as fk on set. He started throwing up at a weapons test. Then Ian told me the little had whippets in his truck. I said, ‘What the fk is whippets?’ I look it up—it’s the s**t that be in Bebe guns.”

The future of BMF remains uncertain. The show wrapped its third season in 2024 and was renewed for a fourth, but with the growing tension between 50 Cent and Lil Meech, its next chapter remains up in the air.
