Mike Tyson Opens Up About Overcoming His Addictions

Mike Tyson recently shared how became victorious in his battle against drug use.

In an interview with Loaded magazine, the heavyweight boxing legend spoke about how he overcame his addiction and the importance of maintaining his mental health.

“I still have struggles with my mental well-being but thankfully I have better tools. I’ve learned a lot over the years from being a former drug addict. I understand my triggers and why I self-sabotage,” Tyson said.

“When I’m honest with myself and do that self inventory I feel great,” he added.

He also shared that losing a victim mentality set him on the right path to wellness.

“I think many people want to blame others for their problems without realizing they are a part of their own story and they can redirect their life at any time,” Tyson explained. “But that’s only possible if you’re honest with yourself about how you got to where you are now.”

In another segment of the interview,  Tyson spoke about the usage of testosterone, defending those who take the substance for their wellness.

“There is this misconception that if men take testosterone it’s because physically there is something wrong with them,” Tyson shared.

“But from the age of 30, I don’t care how healthy you are, your testosterone levels drop. This affects more than just your physicality, it also affects your mood,” Tyson continued. “Getting a testosterone plan as you age should be as normal for a man as taking a daily supplement in my opinion, because it does so much to stabilize the body and mind.”

 Along with his health journey, Tyson is stepping back into the ring to fight YouTuber Jake Paul after several delays.

Scheduled for Nov. 15, the highly-anticipated bout will be held at theAT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas

The fight will be streamed across the globe on Netflix.
