On Saturday (Aug.3), a TikTok video surfaced on X, where Jackson applauded the Virginia native’s influence. “I describe her music as timeless,” she begins. “I think it’s for everyone…In my heart of all hearts, this is it. We’re not gonna have another Missy.” She added,” God made the mold and he broke it [with] [her].” After catching wind of the clip, the “Work It” rapper took to X to show her appreciation.
Missy revealed that as a child, she wrote to Jackson’s fan club frequently. Fast forward, decades later, and the hitmaker is still in disbelief since she first encountered the pop star. “@JanetJackson as a kid I used to write her fan club in hopes that 1 day she would see my letters,” she began. “…[Now] years later God blessed me to work with her & build a FOREVER SISTERSHIP with this LEGEND/ICON/THE BLUEPRINT![emoji] [emoji] I am So Grateful 4 her kind words! Missy Elliott Opens Up About New Tour and Battle With Grave’s Disease
She has recruited Busta Rhymes and Ciara to accompany her on a cross-country journey. The full-circle moment has been long overdue, considering this is her very first headlining tour. Missy Elliott told Variety, that while she loved being on the road she was too caught up in producing for other artists. “Well, I’ve had opportunities before and I was so engulfed in producing and writing for other artists,” she began.
“And I just woke up one day like, I want to go out on the road. And for my team of course, they thought I was playing, like yeah, alright. My manager, she called me the next day like, are you sure? Were you playing about what you said? No, I want to go out, I’m for real this time.” Missy also recently opened up about her long battle with Grave’s Disease. The hitmaker was diagnosed with the disease in 2008. “I’m feeling so much better now,” she told PEOPLE. “That was a run. Every now and then you get a little ache in the leg or the knee, but outside of that, I feel good.”
