Naomi Osaka is starting the new year single, announcing the end of her six-year relationship with rapper Cordae. The 27-year-old tennis star shared the news on her Instagram story Monday, emphasizing that there’s no animosity between them.
“No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad,” Osaka wrote. She also expressed gratitude for their time together, adding, “Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing, and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.”
Osaka and Cordae, who began dating in 2019, initially kept their relationship private before making their first public appearance at an L.A. Clippers game that same year. Cordae was often seen supporting Osaka at her matches, including the 2019 and 2020 U.S. Opens, where he was her biggest cheerleader.
In 2023, the couple welcomed their daughter, Shai, despite Osaka facing health challenges during her pregnancy. She revealed they “built a really good foundation” as they navigated parenthood together.
“At the end of the day, we both want what’s best for Shai,” Osaka shared, underscoring their commitment to co-parenting their daughter.
Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam singles champion and former World No. 1, has since returned to professional tennis after giving birth. While their romantic relationship has ended, Osaka made it clear they remain united as parents, focused on raising their baby girl.
