As the release date for Offset’s new album, Kiari, approaches, the Atlanta rapper sat down with The Joe Budden Podcast to reflect on the personal experiences shaping his latest work. The conversation comes just as Cardi B’s track “Outside”—widely speculated to be about their breakup—continues to spark debate online.

Offset spoke with unusual vulnerability about how his music serves as a mirror for his emotional life, particularly in the aftermath of his split from Cardi B. When Budden asked whether the project would explore their relationship directly, Offset pushed back at the notion of taking aim. “It’s therapy. I’m not targeting anyone on this album. If there are any critiques, I’m not going that route. I might discuss my life experiences, but I’m avoiding that. There’s too much at stake—family, children. In ten years, this will seem insignificant. I’m focused on conveying my feelings about various issues.”

On Cardi’s “Outside,” Offset confirmed he knew about the song before it went public. His response, however, was measured. “I actually knew about the song before it was released, even before the drama unfolded. If it’s directed at me… Timing is crucial. That record was completed a while ago. I’m aware of it. It appears as it does,” he said.

Offset Turns Heartbreak Into Hits

Offset and Cardi B’s high-profile marriage, which began in 2017, officially ended in 2024. In the months following their separation, Cardi has been linked to New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs. When their relationship went public, Offset responded with a pointed social media remark: “Good rollout and PR. Today, I move on.” Diggs, unbothered, clapped back with a photo of himself mid-catch, captioned, “We’re good over here, I caught her.”

Due out August 22, Kiari promises a wide-ranging sonic palette and a lineup of high-profile collaborators, including NBA YoungBoy, Gunna, YFN Lucci, JID, John Legend, Ty Dolla $ign, and Teezo Touchdown. Offset teased the tracklist on social media, generating early momentum for what may be his most introspective album yet.
