Ozzy Osbourne, one of rock’s most influential and controversial figures, has died, according to TMZ. The Osbourne family confirmed his passing in a statement, sharing that the music legend died Tuesday with loved ones by his side. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” they said. “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.” The message was signed by Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis.

Best known as the founding voice of Black Sabbath, Osbourne helped pioneer heavy metal with dark, groundbreaking music that defined a generation. Formed in 1968, the band earned critical and commercial success with tracks like “Sweet Leaf” and “Children of the Grave,” eventually earning two Grammys and a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Though Black Sabbath launched him to fame, internal issues led to his departure in 1979 due to long-standing struggles with addiction. Ozzy’s solo career quickly took off, bolstered by hits like “No More Tears” and “Crazy Train.” He released 13 solo albums—eight of them certified platinum—and secured five Grammy wins along the way.

Sharon Osbourne, who became his manager and later his wife, played a key role in his comeback. The two met in the early ‘70s and married in 1982, just a few years after Sharon helped steer Ozzy toward recovery and solo success.

In the 2000s, the world saw a different side of the rocker through MTV’s The Osbournes, a chaotic and beloved reality show that made his family household names. Ozzy Osbourne’s impact spanned music, television, and culture—and his legacy will not be forgotten.
