One of the four men charged in the February 2020 death of Pop Smoke has pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Judge J. Christopher Smith sentenced the now 20-year-old defendant, whose name is being withheld due to him being a minor at the time of the shooting, to four years and 2 months in a juvenile facility on Thursday (April 8). The man pled guilty to entering a Hollywood Hills mansion to rob the “Dior” rapper before fatally shooting him. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office revealed that Pop Smoke died of a gunshot wound to the torso.
The media outlet also reported that the judge refused to reduce his sentence by two years and eight months, the time he’s already spent behind bars, and warned the man he could remain in juvenile custody until he turns 25.
The three other defendants, two juveniles and Corey Walker, were also charged but haven’t stood trial as of yet. We will continue to keep Pop Smoke’s family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.
