Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, the man at the center of a viral moment during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance, has been arrested following weeks of speculation. The 41-year-old turned himself in to Louisiana State Police, who charged him with resisting an officer and disturbing the peace after he allegedly disrupted the February 9th show at New Orleans’ Superdome.
During Lamar’s set, Nantambu appeared onstage waving a flag that displayed the message “Sudan and Free Gaza” as the rapper performed “tv off.” Authorities say Nantambu was officially hired to take part in the halftime event but acted without permission when he used the platform for political demonstration.
In a statement released to TMZ Sports, the NFL applauded law enforcement, saying, “We commend the Louisiana State Police for its diligence and professionalism in this matter.” The league also emphasized its stance against disruptions during major events, adding, “We take any attempt to disrupt any part of an NFL game, including the halftime show, very seriously and are pleased this individual will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
Beyond criminal charges, the NFL has issued a lifetime ban against Nantambu, barring him from all future games and league-sponsored events.
This incident follows recent headlines involving Nantambu, who was allegedly targeted by Antonio Brown during a heated altercation at a celebrity boxing event in Miami last month. Brown was accused of attempting to shoot him during the dispute.
As of now, Nantambu has not spoken publicly about the arrest or the Super Bowl incident.
