Hip-hop legend Redman has made some significant changes over the last few years. One change was that he is now practicing celibacy.

Speaking with Ambrosia For Heads, “Funk Doctor Spock” detailed how he decided to abstain from sex.

“My girl and I broke up maybe three, or four years ago. I was going through such a sh*tdivorce that lasted seven years that played a role in why it took so long to drop Muddy Waters Too,” Redman said. “I had so much on my plate.”

“I actually fasted two years and a half — no f*cking, no smoking. Straight two years and a half,” he continued. “It was the best thing I could have done in my life. It was the best thing.”

In making the lifestyle change, Redman shared that it was challenging at first.

“And believe me, I wanted to, I was fighting it, I was sweating,” Redman explained. “I was in my house going crazy ’cause I live alone. I was constantly talking to myself. Me and God, just back and forth.

“But I made it and it was the best thing I could have done,” he added.

Redman also said that becoming celibate made him much more focused in his life.

“It cleared out so much distraction. My reception is much clearer now,” Redmond said “Having no sex is nothing to me now because it was all feeding the flesh.”

“Once I did that, I was able to control how I moved, what I like, what is not good for me,” he went on.

Outside of his celibacy journey, Redman released his long-awaited album on Muddy Waters Too on Christmas Eve.

The 32-song album features contributions from Queen Latifah, Erick Sermon, Method Man, Snoop Dogg, KRS-One, Sheek Louch, and many more.
