Russell Wilson‘s former teammate, Trevone Boykin, recently apologized to the NY Giants Quarterback and his family following an onslaught of criticism he received.

“I do wanna issue an apology,” Boykin said in the latest episode of his House of Playmakers podcast. “I feel like they didn’t wake up and ask for that—Russ [or] Ciara, or baby Future—it was an experience I had ten years ago…so I can issue that apology, because they didn’t deserve that.”A few weeks back, during an episode of Boykin’s podcast, he recounted a 2016 story about visiting Wilson’s house on Thanksgiving.

According to the former NFL player, it was very “weird” that Wilson’s family wasn’t there and that the dinner was catered instead of being homemade. He claims only Wilson, Ciara, her father, a few workers, and baby Future were present. “If I got as much money as Russell Wilson, my whole family would talk about me so bad if I ain’t fly everybody out there for Thanksgiving.” He continued: “…It’s just weird to me, even if you don’t fool with your family…”

Russell Wilson’s Mother, Tammy, Claps Back At Boykin’s Comments

After a clip of the conversation went viral, Boykin faced serious backlash not only from Wilson’s fans but also from his own mother, Tammy Wilson. “I am his mom. It is none of your business. This is opportunistic. I am so tired of you men cutting down my son,” she wrote under a post from The Shade Room. “Jesus said, to all accusing the woman, ‘he who is without sin cast the 1st stone.’” According to her, she and other family members had prior obligations and could not attend.

“Part of our family was in Fla at a tournament. I stayed planned to stay home bc I wanted to fast the 4 days before year end.” She added, “This why Russ keeps it moving. Folks not trustworthy. Russ though will forgive, but not again. I hope you felt relevant for a few minutes. Lord forgive him for he know not what he is doing.” So far, neither Wilson nor Ciara has yet to comment on the situation.
