Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies, including SWAT team members, were seen at the Southwest Ranches home of rapper Sean Kingston. It is reported that Kingston’s home was raided. Authorities reported taking a woman into custody. The residence is located near Southwest 146th Avenue and 46th Street.
Local 10 News observed more than a dozen deputies outside Kingston’s home, alongside a command center set up in the driveway. According to a civil complaint filed with the Broward Clerk of Courts, Ver Ver Entertainment alleges that Kingston, 34, only partially paid for a 232-inch television and entertainment system. After installation, he allegedly failed to complete the payment. The complaint further claims that Kingston exploited his name and celebrity status to scam people out of products and services without paying for them.
Attorney Dennis Card, representing Ver Ver Entertainment, spoke to Local 10 News on Thursday. “He basically has a sales pitch that he goes through to defraud people. He induces them into giving him really expensive things,” Card said. “We know that our property is inside this house right here, so as soon as the raid takes place we are going to have a crew of people in there to reassemble it and take it back to its rightful owner.”
Although Kingston was not seen at the property, his relatives were present but declined to comment to Local 10 News. A BSO spokesperson announced Thursday afternoon that a woman named Janice Turner, 60, was taken into custody on “numerous fraud and theft charges” following an investigation that began earlier that morning in Dania Beach.
Kingston’s mother is named Janice Turner, according to various news and entertainment sources, but authorities have not confirmed if she is the same person taken into custody. As of Thursday afternoon, Turner was not yet listed in Broward jail records.
