Sergio Brown was charged with one count of first-degree murder and concealment of a dead body in connection with the death of his 73-year-old mother Myrtle Brown, reporters said.
“We are… heartened by the news that Sergio Brown has been apprehended and returned to the United States unharmed,” a statement provided by his relatives through an attorney read. “Our family is prayerful that, as the investigation progresses, more answers will become available, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.”
As previously by HOT 97, the former NFL safely was taken into custody by U.S. law enforcement in San Diego after being deported from Mexico earlier this month. According to a press release from Maywood Police Department, Myrtle’s body was found near a creek behind her home on Sept. 16 after relatives alerted officers that they couldn’t find or contact her or her son.
Sergio is scheduled to appear in front of a Maywood judge today (Oct. 25) at the Maybrook Court House.
