Fresh body camera footage has surfaced showing what happened when Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after a dispute with Christian Coleman. Police say the track star was taken into custody on July 27th on a fourth-degree domestic violence assault charge after allegedly pushing Coleman into a wall during an argument near a security checkpoint.
In the video from the Port of Seattle Police Department, several officers arrive to speak with both Richardson and Coleman. She appears impatient with the questioning and repeatedly tries to make the situation seem minor. “We had an argument,” she told them. “I’ll be honest about that. We had an argument, that’s pretty much it.” Richardson said the disagreement was over “lies” Coleman had told her and firmly denied putting her hands on him.
According to the officers, airport surveillance told a different story. That news appeared to set her off. The footage shows Richardson calling Coleman “a coward” more than once and telling someone nearby, “This is the position Christian Coleman put me into… because he’s a coward.” At one point, she looked directly at him and said, “I will never f*** with you again.”
Coleman told police their fight was only verbal and not physical. Despite his version of events, Richardson was placed in handcuffs and spent almost an entire day in jail before being released.
For several days she did not address the incident publicly. On Monday night, she shared a video on Instagram saying she was getting outside help. The following day she posted an apology directed at Coleman, writing, “To Christian, I love you and I am so sorry.”
The footage captures the tense moments after the altercation and shows Richardson’s frustration spilling out before she was taken away.
