Shedeur Sanders, Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders’ son and college football star, released his debut song, “Perfect Timing,” taking his skills from the field to the booth.

The 22-year-old previewed his debut last summer and received positive reactions. He introduces himself confidently with a laid-back flow and expensive wordplay over BBYJHN production. He raps about his exquisite purchases, football stats, promising future, and playboy persona.

Shedeur exhibits the same flamboyant personality as his father, Primetime, did in 1994, minus the dance moves. He raps:

“These n***a can’t f*ck with me / Yeah, they lyin’ / I ain’t even hit my peak, I ain’t tryin’ / 100k for a signing / What that pay? A n***a got reminded (one mo’ time) / In yo city, know we litty every time.”

Deion Sanders released his first rap song “Must Be The Money” in the 90s, during the peak of his success. The song’s music video has 1.5 million views on YouTube.

Most fans have recited the song’s hook in the comments section, but, of course, “Perfect Timing” has received mixed reviews. One YouTube user wrote, “We gonna need that explicit version though! This heat [fire emoji],” while another said, “Don’t quit football, damn.”

An excited football fan commented, “Keep Grinding!!  Looking forward to see you do your thing. Trust the process. Let’s Go, Buffs. You’re a Bless young man. Continue to always keep God First; he will direct your path.”

Users provided encouraging words despite the good, bad, and ugly comments.

“Its not bad actually if you stick with it your sound going to develop better,” wrote user @osamawyd.

As the quarterback for Colorado State, Shedeur Sanders is not only one of the highest-earning NIL athletes in college sports but also a top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. His talents extend beyond the field, as he made a notable appearance in Louis Vuitton’s Menswear Fall/Winter show in Paris this January.

Colorado State finished 4-8 last season, and Sanders accumulated 3,230 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns.

Colorado State’s 2024 season begins August 31.
