The Weeknd etched his name in wrestling history as it was announced that the WWE named his hit song “Gasoline” the official theme song for the upcoming Wrestlemania 40. The announcement was made on Sunday, Jan. 29, during the WWE’s Royal Rumble event and marks The Weeknd’s fifth straight Wrestlemania official theme song with TKO-owned entertainment company.

In anticipation of Wrestlemania, WWE promoted The Weeknd’s new accomplishment with the company in the following  tweet on X:

“With #WrestleMania season right around the corner,@TheWeeknd becomes the only artist in WWE history to have 5 Official Theme Songs 5 years in row. “Gasoline” from the album Dawn FM is an Official Theme Song of #WrestleMania XL!”

“Gasoline” was released in 2022 on The Weeknd’s fifth album, Dawn FM (Republic). It is the second Wrestlemania theme song from the album, following “Less Than Zero,” the official song of Wrestlemania 39. The Weeknd began his Wrestlemania run in March 2020 with his hit song “Blinding Lights.” His five-year run also includes “Save Your Tears” and “Sacrifice” which were the official theme songs for Wrestlemania 37 and 38.

The new record accompanies The Weeknd’s recent accolades, which include the soundtrack to his recently canceled HBO series, The Idol, which achieved the most daily streams by a soundtrack on Spotify with over 10 million streams in a single day, and the first artist to stream over 114 million streams on Spotify.

Wrestlemania 40 will take place in Philadelphia on Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7. You may stream WM40 on Peacock.
